"Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all."

2 Corinthians 4:16-18
OUR PURPOSE
As a nonprofit organization, our purpose is to build and operate Michigan's first hospice facility specifically designed, from the ground up, for terminally-ill children and their families. Every year, over 53,000 children die in the United States, over 80% in hospitals. Although hospitals do provide high-quality hospice and palliative care, our organization is designed to provide respite and renewal for young children as well as to their friends and family. This care will be provided with no out of pocket cost to them.

Constructing the hospice facility will take significant time and funds. In the meantime, as we accumulate resources from the generous support of our donors and volunteers, we are organizing week-long, expense-free respites where terminally-ill children and their families can participate in outdoor activities, like fishing and canoeing, to build lasting memories in the time they have left.

OUR NAME
Joanne, after whom the organization was named, is Jason's late daughter. Jason and his wife, Becky, lost Joanne on April 3, 2002. Becky wears a pendant around her neck with Joanne's fingerprint depicted on it as a reminder that every child leaves his or her mark on the lives of people with whom they come in contact.
